About Us
MCDA is a company limited by guarantee. MCDA has two principal priorities:
to do everything possible to support the preschool, SuperKids, and the staff to achieve their goals and meet the standards required: and
to maintain and promote a centre for the betterment of the Munterconnaught area and the lives of the residents.
Ballydurrow Community Centre was renovated for the purpose of providing fit for purpose, safe and comfortable premises for the preschool, SuperKids, and other groups which may use the Centre from time to time.
Along with encouraging a higher level of utilisation of the Centre, our goal is to have all active groups in the area collaborating to make our parish a better and more cohesive place to live.
We envisage this website as being another resource for our community and a useful tool for people moving to the area and for potential visitors looking for information about Munterconnaught.
Ballydurrow Community Centre
The community centre in Ballydurrow started out life as a primary school from1861 and remained operational as a school until 1971 when it closed its doors for the last time. A committee was formed and repairs were carried out to the building in 1975. In 1976 the building was officially opened in its new capacity as a community centre. In that role it has hosted plays, ceilithe, meetings, rehearsal and school concerts as well as many other activities. In this way it continued to play a significant role in the life of the Munterconnaught community.
In 2000 a significant renovation and refurbishment took place with the addition of rooms to the existing building. Since then the building has operated primarily as a preschool today facilitates 33 local children. With continual funding through grants the facilities are being maintained and upgraded meaning the community centre is therefore well suited to being used in various capacities.
